Conversation with Indonesian worker

Many workers in oil palm plantation comes from Bangladesh and Indonesia.

PART 1 - Conversation with Indonesian lady worker

Here, I will call her as "A".

Me: Why do you come all the way from Indonesia to Malaysia to work?
A: Because it is difficult to find a job in Indonesia, they will first look at the your educational qualification, if you only have primary school qualification, it is difficult even for blue collar job sometimes as there are a lot of job seekers. Furthermore, the government is so corrupt that sometimes applying government job will need to bribe the officer to get the job.

Me: Why Malaysia? Why not other countries like Saudi Arabia or Dubai?
A: It is far and dangerous. I have heard some of our people (ladies) went there and got raped by employer, some never come back and we do not know what happened to them.

Me: Do you get paid well in Malaysia?
A: Used to be, but now Malaysia currency drops drastically, we are earning less now.
